- The night before surgery eat a light meal. Do not eat or drink after midnight.
- If you take any regular medications (high blood pressure, antibiotics, etc.) or any pre-medication prescription that we have provided: make sure to take as usual, but using only a small sip of water. Do not skip your dose unless directed to!
- Brush your teeth several times prior to surgery and rinse with mouthwash. Do not swallow any water. Your mouth and teeth should be clean to help avoid the possibility of a postoperative infection.
- Please call us immediately if you have any symptoms of a head or chest cold. Your surgery may have to be rescheduled.
- Bring someone with a car to drive you home after surgery. If someone does not accompany you, your surgery will have to be rescheduled. They will need to stay with you at home for several hours after surgery.
- Please leave all valuables at home.
- Remove all fingernail polish, lipstick, and make-up.
- Do not wear contacts. If need be, bring your case and solution with you.
- Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing.Short sleeves are best, but at least make sure your sleeves can be easily rolled up past the elbow. Do not wear a tight collar or necktie.
- Your other teeth may ache temporarily. This is referred pain and is a temporary condition.
- Plan to rest for the remainder of the day. Do not operate power tools, machinery, etc., for 24 hours after surgery.
